How to Thrive in a German Office
Tim had one BIG dream. Well, he had many dreams, but one that beat out all the rest: to work in a German-speaking country. Germany, Switzerland, Austria – he was not very picky. Mixed in with his excitement to work abroad was a deep-rooted fear – a fear that he would not fit into a German-speaking work environment. Now, don’t get me wrong. He had a lot of confidence in his ability to communicate in the language, but to do so in a workplace seemed like a whole new challenge. A challenge he was not yet ready for. What if I don’t understand business German? What if everyone laughs at me for using the wrong words and expressions? Maybe I’m just not ready yet…
If you feel like Tim – both excited and fearful at the thought of working abroad – it’s time to turn things around. After finishing this read, you will feel prepared to not only get by in a German-speaking work environment, but to stand out and impress.
